Hi, Lowenna here. I am always happy to answer questions. Here is what I am most frequently asked...

FAQs

What finishes do you apply to your work?

For acrylic and oil pieces, I always apply at least 2 layers of appropriate varnish to the painting. For my charcoal pieces, I use a fixative to secure charcoals and pastels and hand apply a non- yellowing, archival cold wax to further seal and protect the artwork. This preserves the wood grain , leaving a subtle matte finish.

How often to you release new work?

Typically, I release new work every 6-8 weeks. To stay up to date with new work, please sign up for updates of follow me on my instagram page.

Do you include frames with all pieces?

If the piece being sold includes a frame it will state this. If you would like a frame to be changed or added then please contact me and I can arrange this at request.

Do you offer commissions?

Yes! I offer commissions which typically take 6-8 weeks to complete, depending on the materials used and drying times. Please get in touch to arrange. I do require a 50% deposit at the time of booking.

Are there care instructions for purchased artwork?

Yes, beyond protection from finishing processes, all artwork should be handled with care and thoughtfully displayed in settings considered safe for work.

Originals and prints should be kept out of direct sunlight to avoid discolouring or fading. Like anything made from wood and canvas, original works should be kept in temperature controlled environments away from extremes of heat and moisture.

What is your refund/returns policy?

All orders are final. Please reach out with any questions before purchase as I am always happy to help.

What is your shipping policy?

All orders, with the exception of larger works, ship within 2-3 weeks from order being processed. Please reach out about rush shipping options. These will be packaged safely and transported needing a signature on delivery. Tracking details will be provided once shipped. Larger works can be shipped at request. All shipping to mainland UK is free.

Do you ship out of the UK?

Yes, this can be arranged and a quote will be provided for shipping. Due to fluctuating costs of materials, postage and freight- shipping estimates are only provided upon request for an accurate quote.

What if I want to purchase a piece that's currently being exhibited?

Unless otherwise noted, exhibited work is also available for purchase. However, the piece(s) must remain on display throughout the remainder of the exhibition to honour my commitment.

How do you frame with steel?

The steel frames are first hand selected in person and then cut and welded by a reputable, local fabricator to achieve the perfect frame to complement seascape and landscape pieces. I view my frames as an extension of the painting, carefully chosen to enhance and complement the work. The steel frames are both durable and dynamic, gradually changing as they oxidise and respond to their surroundings.

They are heavier than standard wooden frames but will not warp or dent and give a sense of permanence and stability, contrasting with more delicate surfaces within the home.

The frames themselves are a living material. Becoming part of the work with its patina and natural variation and reinforcing the idea that the art continues beyond the canvas
